In the Begining.
Our story begins over fifty years ago. Born and raised in regional Greece, founder Nick Kapernaros learnt at a young age about the traditional produce of Greece. Establishing a divine passion for olives, oil and Greek cheese, Nick traded with locals, ensuring that his family always had the finest that the village had to offer.
Our standards
We put quality before any other factor, ensuring this not only by our own success, but also that of our partners. Placing emphasis on using small traditional suppliers rather than large corporations, Lakonia Group aims to continue the message of those before it, the message of quality produce from the epicenter of the Mediterranean.

Lakonia - Λακωνία

The region of Laconia, lies at the southeast end of the Peloponnese peninsula. With warm rocky hillsides and direct contact with the Aegean Sea provides optimal conditions for cultivating. Home to the ancient Spartans, olive cultivation in this area can be traced back to 1500 BC, and has been a vital part of Greek culture and the Mediterranean diet.

Founder & Managaing Director
As many Europeans did, Nick travel to Australia in 1964 in order to begin a new life. While he worked in a number of fields, Nick eventually found himself in the food industry, with the opening of a deli in Sydney’s eastern suburbs in 1975. With a booming Mediterranean culture emerging, the deli strived. However, Nick was not satisfied. Disappointed in the quality of product being offered to customers, Nick began to formulate his plan to educate Australians in the quality produce that Greece had to offer.
Working alongside importers and then establishing his own business in 1989, his vision of providing Australians with superior produce began to flourish, as did his reputation. Renowned for service and unbeaten in quality, Nick has become a distinct figure in the wider Greek-Australian community.
